Impact of transport schemes on historic landscapes conference

17th July 2007

The conference, organised by the Highways Agency and supported by the Landscape Institute, takes place in London on 28 September 2007.

It is increasingly appreciated that landscapes are more than just backdrops for archaeological sites and historic buildings. While they provide the settings for these historic features, historic landscapes also have a character and value of their own.

This conference will consider the policy background to the protection of historic landscape, the methodologies for assessing the impact of transport schemes on cultural heritage, and will discuss recent examples where historic landscapes have been affected by transport schemes.
