New President for Chartered Foresters

24th May 2007

The Institute of Chartered Foresters, which celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its Charter this year, announced that Richard Ogilvy, formerly its Vice President, has been elected President by its members at their recent AGM in London.

A Fellow of the Institute and a consultant forester, Richard is Chairman of both Christie-Elite Nurseries and Dulnain Bridge Plant and Proprietor of Davro Boomerangs (International).

Commenting on his election success Richard said: “My delight, and apprehension, in achieving this position is a measure of my respect for the Institute but this respect has to be earned.”

“We have had a period of sober reflection and regrouping, expertly led by my predecessor James Ogilvie. I believe we now need to change the emphasis from process to outcomes: What do we want to achieve? How do we get there? How do we measure success? James set the groundwork for our continuing development and I will do my utmost to build successfully on the foundations laid, not just by James, but by so many inspirational leaders the Institute has enjoyed.”

Joining Richard on the ICF Council is the new Vice President, Bill MacDonald FICFor, Marketing Development Advisor at the Forestry Commission Wales.
