Kinnear Landscape Architects shortlisted for ODA public walkway design contract

19th March 2007

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has confirmed the five design practices that have been short-listed for a contract to design a key public walkway that runs through the Olympic Park.

The Greenway is a neglected and underused 3km public walkway that runs from Victoria Park to West Ham. At the beginning of February, the ODA encouraged up-and-coming landscape and urban design practices to bid for the lead design services on the phased regeneration of this key infrastructure link.

Alison Nimmo, ODA Director of Design and Regeneration said:

"We have been extremely pleased with the level of interest for this important project, particularly from small and niche design practices. The quality of entries was exceptional and the panel had to make tough choices to narrow it down to a short-list of just five.

"This is an important project to revitalise a vital link in the neglected public spaces in and around the Olympic Park area. It will give the right designer the opportunity to use creativity and imagination to support the regeneration in this area of London."

The ODA received over 70 expressions of interest which then resulted in a short-list of five practices:

Adams and Sutherland
Alison Brooks Architects
Erect architecture
Kinnear Landscape Architects
PLUS

The short-listed practices will be invited to attend a site visit at the Greenway and meet members of the ODA design team. Each team will then be interviewed and invited to discuss their assessment of the challenges and opportunities for the design of the Greenway.
