Call for contributions to LI responses to government consultations
23rd January 2007
The Landscape Institute regularly responds to government consultations on important public policies (in the devolved nations as well as Whitehall). These responses are co-ordinated by the Secretariat with input from a wide variety of members of the Institute and the Institute’s policy officers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. When finalised they are circulated to key stakeholders as well as the relevant government department and published on the Institute’s website, accessed from the home page link 'Policies and Consultations' or by clicking here.
The government is currently consulting in a number of areas that are important to the Landscape Architecture profession and the LI is preparing responses that are representative of members' views. The consultations are:
Barker Review on Land Use Planning: closing date 5 March 2007.
CLG Planning and Climate Change: closing date 5 March 2007.
CLG Building a Greener Future: towards zero carbon development: closing date 8 March 2007.
"We have a committed group of members who contribute excellent perspectives to our responses but the number of consultations we want to respond to is growing all the time,” said Claire Luxton, Director of Secretariat and Policy.
"We need more members to get involved in this work – it's a vitally important way of promoting the profession, building the professional community and extending our influence. It doesn't usually involve attending meetings and it usually counts towards CPD so everyone wins. I'd be delighted to hear from members who would like to contribute their perspectives on the major policy proposals which concern us."
If you have any views or opinions on the above documents that you think the LI should consider, please contact Claire Luxton, Director of Secretariat and Policy, clairel@landscapeinstitute.org or telephone 020 7299 4508 by 22 February 2007.
