LI President Confirmed, Vice Presidents to go to Election

28th April 2006

Nigel Thorne was confirmed as the Landscape Institute’s next president to take over from Professor Kathryn Moore from 1 July 2006.

“I’m delighted to be confirmed as President Elect,” said Nigel. “I look forward to meeting as many members as possible through the branches.

“My goals for the next couple of years are to become more involved with the Branches, both members and operations, and aim to dispel the myths and misunderstandings that have developed around the beast that is the LI.”

The two Vice President posts will go to an election with a three-way battle between Martin Leay MLI, Jo Watkins MLI and Neil Williamson FLI. All are strong candidates and place communication and promotion of the profession as a central part of their policy should they be elected. Brief biographies and full statements of policy from each candidate can be found on the member log in home page.

The other members elected to Council are:
Colin Goodrum MLI, Honorary Treasurer
Alison Campbell FLI, Ordinary Member
Roger Ayrton MLI, Ordinary Member
David Lewis, Associate Member

Election deadlines
Ballot papers to vote in the Vice Presidential Election will be sent to all Members by 5 May 2006. These must be returned by 5 June 2006. The election will be run on behalf of the LI by Electoral Reform Services.
