Time to Vote for a Great Place
8th March 2006
The Academy of Urbanism has launched its awards to recognise best practice in urbanism. There will be a number of award categories and the Academy may produce a book featuring the winners and shortlisted entries at the end of the year.
The award categories are:
* European City of the Year – in 2006 entries must be from Britain and Ireland but this will alternate with mainland Europe.
* Great Town – an urban settlement: town, market town or village
* Great Neighbourhood – a recognisable urban district in a town or city
* Great Street – best urban thoroughfare
* Great Place – a public space such as a square, park or promenade
Three nominations will be shortlisted and announced on 5 June, for each category, with the winners declared on 10 November. Further information can be found at the Academy of Urbanism website where you can also submit a nomination.
It would be great to see some of LI members’ projects on the shortlist.
