Edinburgh Tram (Line One) Bill Committee Secures Hospital Link As Roseburn Corridor Route Gets The Green Light
1st March 2006
While giving its backing to the Roseburn Corridor, the Committee has secured a binding commitment from the City of Edinburgh Council to NHS Lothian, that it will also introduce a fully accessible and integrated feeder bus service to transfer passengers between the Western General Hospital and the tram stop at Crewe Toll.
The findings by the Edinburgh Tram (Line One) Bill Committee are published today following its decisions on the outstanding objections to the Bill.
Committee Convener Jackie Baillie said: "The Committee has taken a tremendous amount of evidence and would thank all those who have participated at Consideration Stage. As a result of the Committee's work and that evidence, the Committee will recommend that the Parliament approves the Bill. This will be subject to a number of improvements that will help to address the impact of the tram on individual properties along the route.
"The Committee is particularly pleased that it has secured a binding commitment for a feeder bus service which will greatly enhance public transport access to the Western General Hospital. In addition, a number of undertakings given by the promoter will be given legal force providing some comfort to objectors."
