Sedgemoor Regeneration Project Given Big Lottery Funding
28th February 2006
Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Regeneration Partnership is to receive a grant of £126,714 from the Big Lottery Fund as part of a total package of £3,635,100 benefiting 28 community and voluntary groups across the South West region today.
Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Regeneration Partnership will use the Big Lottery Fund grant as a contribution towards the community aspects of the redevelopment of Burnham, including improving the quality of life of socially excluded groups and increasing the effectiveness of local organisations.
Ken Hindle, Vice Chairman Burnham and Highbridge Regeneration Partnership, said: "We are delighted to receive a grant from the Big Lottery Fund. The appointment of a Community Development Worker will enable the Burnham and Highbridge Regeneration Partnership to make a positive difference to the quality of life of groups normally excluded from the life of the two towns. The appointment will also provide support to organisations within our community."
Mark Cotton, Big Lottery Fund Head of South West region, said: "This round of Big Lottery Fund grants will be greatly welcomed by all those that have been successful in their applications for funding and I am delighted that we have been able to assist them in their work.
"These are the final awards to be made under our Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) programme but our Reaching Communities programme is now open and ready to receive outline projects proposals and we'd be pleased to hear from you. The Reaching Communities programme aims to support projects that improve the quality of life in communities, helping those most in need. The programme will provide funding of £100 million nationally in its first year, with up to £500,000 available for individual projects. Full details of this and other Big Lottery Fund programmes are available on our web site at http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk or by ringing our Big Advice Line on 0845 4 10 20 30."
