In areas of heightened deprivation, regeneration strategy is central to improving the lives and environment of local people. Even in locations of relative affluence, regeneration is crucial as a source of construction opportunities in a political climate where building on Greenfield is frowned upon. All local authorities in the country are obliged to practise regeneration whenever possible, with the support of the Regional Development Agencies.

The Regeneration Summit 'Delivering Homes, Creating Communities', will discuss strategies whereby local authorities can succeed and excel in their renewal endeavours.
