RIBA Building Futures - Futures Fair 08

When
15th May 2008
Where
RIBA, Portland Place, London
Time
09:30

Futures Fair intends to move the debate forward by proposing a co-operative in ideas.

Futures Fair 08 matches the skills of architects and designers with the predictions of sociologists, technologists and other thinkers. We believe that architects cannot take futures on in isolation; solutions require sustained collaboration between a diverse range of disciplinary fields and the day’s agenda will be sought via its audience and its speakers.

Of particular interest to Landscape Institute members will be the dedicated Landscape Systems seminar. As competing demands for land can only increase into the future, so will the pressure rise to address those issues. Architects and landscape architects can no longer afford to work isolated and we already see collaborations between the two professions, as well as with civil engineers and others, on many successful projects.

The future outlook for the built environment profession is changing by the day, as news reports and financial markets anticipate a world post credit crunch and possible recession. Added to this the widening pressures to sustainable design through new guidelines and legislations mean Futures thinking and Futures anticipation has never been more crucial to your business.

The event will feature contributions from Spencer de Grey of Fosters and Partners, Reinier de Graaf of OMA-AMO, and Sir David King, among others. Futures Fair 08 will be a timely gathering of senior figures from diverse facets of the design and construction profession, and those in policy research to collectively scan and debate what’s coming up on the horizon. The event will provide you with access to a key knowledge community all of whom will be debating our likely futures and scenarios, plus toolkits for preparing for them.

Whole day ticket £90 (+ VAT).
