Welsh design award

This year's Dewi-Prys Thomas Prize is open for entries.

Now in its third year, the Prize recognises the importance of good design to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales. It builds on the work of the Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust in celebrating the life of this inspirational teacher and advocate for Wales and the Welsh environment who died in 1985.

The Dewi-Prys recognises projects of excellence in a wide range of fields including:

• Architecture
• Landscape design and public spaces
• Environmental improvements, sustainability projects and civil engineering
• Public art.

Entries can be not only completed projects but also insightful contributions to understanding the built environment such as inspirational but unrealised designs, published works that make a difference to the quality of design in Wales and campaigning, educating and contributing to better design.

Built projects or initiatives nominated must be in Wales. In the case of realised projects, published, exhibited or realised initiatives, the project should have been completed since 1 August 2006.

Deadline for receipt of entries is Friday, 25 September at 12 noon. The prize will be awarded at the Annual Conference of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales on 27 November.
