The LI issues updated advice for landscape and visual impact assessment...
The LI has released an updated advice note on photography and photomontage for use in landscape and visual impact assessment
Advice Note 01/11 has been produced to meet LI members’ needs for advice on the status of guidance produced by other bodies, as well as recent technological changes in photography.
The LI endorses the Scottish Natural Heritage guidance on the visual representation of windfarms.
SNH’s guidance can be applied outside Scotland, and to other forms of development. LI members are strongly advised to follow this guidance where applicable in preference to any other guidance or methodology.
While some regulatory authorities may specify their own photographic and photomontage requirements, the LI advises members to consider carefully whether those requirements are justified or whether likely effects could be under or over-represented.
Advice Note 01/11, which supersedes Advice Note 01/09, was produced by members of the LI Technical Committee in consultation with members and specialists in photography.
As well as offering updated guidance reflecting developments in photographic technology, a new, detailed technical appendix has been added on digital photography for use in landscape and visual impact assessment work, a subject where little advice is currently available.
The Advice Note sets a high standard of professional practice and assists in the production of high quality, effective photomontages and, if followed, gives members the confidence that they have produced the images in line with their professional body’s advice.
Advice Note 01/11 is available to download from http://www.landscapeinstitute.org/publications/downloads.php
The LI would like to take the opportunity to thank Mark Turnbull and Helen Kennedy for leading on this project.
