Members! Join the LI Planning Task & Finish Group

The Landscape Institute is establishing a new Planning Policy Task & Finish (T&F) Group to ensure our profession remains an influential voice in the government’s growth and development agenda.

Our immediate priority is to coordinate the LI’s response to the MHCLG consultation on the Proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). This consultation closes on 10 March 2026.

It is a critical opportunity to convey our key messages and asks to government on policy matters that impact landscape delivery. Your expert insight and experience in current planning policy will be vital in helping the LI engage with key decision-makers, now and over the longer-term. In addition to NPPF the group will look to respond on the landscape implications of other emerging government initiatives relating to planning e.g. The P&I Bill, EORs, Local Government Devolution.

How the group works

Reporting: The group will be overseen by the LI’s Policy & Public Affairs Committee.

Format: In general, communications will be email-based for flexibility and speed, with occasional online meetings. In the short-term, there will need to be some intensive group communications including online meetings, to compile the LI’s NPPF response.

Launch: The first meeting is expected to be in late January.

How to apply

If you are a member of the LI, and a current expert in planning policy from any of the four UK nations, we would like to hear from you.

To apply, please sign and submit a completed Expression of Interest form, using the email title ‘EOI Planning Task & Finish Group’ to human.resource@landscapeinstitute.org by 21 Jan 2026.
