How to use the Catalogue
You can access the library Catalogue without needing to register or login. Here you can search by author, keyword or item. At present we have 15609 items. If you can't find what you are looking for - please contact the library.
How to borrow a book
- The loan service is only available to fully paid-up members of the LI
- Books may be borrowed and returned either in person during normal Library opening hours, or by recorded delivery
- A postal loan service is available - items will be sent by recorded delivery and we ask that they are returned by recorded delivery also
- A maximum of two books may be borrowed at any one time
- The loan period is three weeks with an option of renewal if there is no waiting list
- A fine system will operate for overdue books at a rate of £1 per book per day
- Members will be liable for the full replacement cost of books lost or damaged whilst on loan to them
- Debts incurred through fines or loss will be recorded on the member's records
- The penalty for the non-return of books or non-payment of fines will be the withdrawal of loan privileges
- We regret that books cannot be sent abroad

Contact us with the details of the books you wish to borrow.
From the library catalogue
If you are already registered with the library, select the request item button and enter your personal library login and password.
If you have not yet registered, email the library with your details (cut and paste the book record details from the catalogue), or call to speak to a member of library staff 020 7299 4502.
Once you have been added to our catalogue system you can obtain login details. This will enable you to view your borrower/loan record and set up email alerts for new items in stock - more options will be available in due course.
How to request a photocopy of an article from a Journal or pages from a book
- Fill in one complete Photocopy request form for each article requested - only 1 article per journal issue is permitted. (Some pre 1995 journals - other than our own - are kept in off site storage for which there is a retrieval fee.)
- The completed form(s) should then be faxed to the library on: 020 7299 4501 or posted to us at: The Landscape Institute Library, 33 Great Portland Street, London W1W 8QG. Emailed requests are not accepted
- Completed requests and invoices will be posted to you by 1st class post
Please Note - Changes to copyright law were implemented on 31st October 2003 to comply with the EU Directive 2001/29/EU on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society. For each commercial use a fee of £9.00 plus the usual copy fee (20p per A4 page) will have to be charged. If a copy is deemed to be not for commercial purposes, a declaration form to this effect must be signed.
