In an area of the UK where corporate concern about the needs and welfare of their staff is scant – London’s Docklands, home to capitalism at its reddest of tooth and claw – it’s encouraging and perhaps a little surprising to find a business that believes wholeheartedly in bringing their personnel on. Such is life at The Landscape Partnership.

From the moment during Landscape’s tour of their riverside office, when Associate Director Joanna Ede points out on the horizon City Hall, the futuristic home for the London Assembly and Mayor Ken Livingstone, proudly adding that it is to be the venue for the practice’s 20th anniversary party, through to founder partner Christopher Stratton explaining how they send their staff on workshops with actors to learn public speaking, it’s evident this credo is no window-dressing. It is at the core of their approach to business.

The importance of TLP’s staff to the practice cannot be over-estimated. A laudable commitment to promoting their satisfaction and stimulating their creativity is enshrined in the partnership’s practice philosophy. It’s a top-down philosophy too, with senior members of staff being spurred to new heights by regular sessions with management consultants. Discuss this article
