When WB Yeats wrote that “education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”, he summed up a philosophy of learning that remains as valid now as in his own era. In this issue, we present a snapshot of landscape architecture education in 2007 and consider how effectively it is serving the next generation of practitioners.
It suggests that this industry contains people, both young and old, who have a great deal to teach us. We dedicate it to all those for whom the quest for knowledge is a lifelong process.
