Launched in 2007 by the Academy for Sustainable Communities, now the HCA Skills and Knowledge Directorate, the Future Vision Award encourages students to submit inspirational ideas that have the potential to improve communities across the country.
The Award is run by the Landcape Institute, the professional body for landscape architects. Future Vision 2011 is open to students of any discipline.
Aims- Promote sustainable communities
- Find ideas for making better places to live, work and play
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to sustainability

There will be one winner in each of the four categories, each of whom will receive the following:
- An all expenses paid four-week work placement with a leading organisation that is interested in nurturing talent (this includes travel, accommodation and subsistence costs)
- £1,000 cash prize (awarded following completion of the four-week work placement)
- An invitation to attend the high-profile, national awards ceremony in London
- A nationally recognised award to impress potential employers
