Bea Landscape Design Ltd was commissioned by Westminster City Council and theNew ZealandHigh Commission in February 2006 to project manage the implementation and design the landscape for the ‘Southern Stand’ New Zealand War memorial in Hyde Park Corner.
The memorial concept was conceived during a design competition for the project won by New Zealand based Athfield Architects Ltd in partnership with the Dibble Art Company and consists of 16 bronze sculptures of varying heights set out in formation across a grass slope. Each standard was formed from two intersecting bronze plates textured with patterns, words and raised images with an integral light.
The project was successfully delivered within budget and on programme for the New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, Her Majesty the Queen and other senior members of the royal family to formally dedicate on 11th November 2006.
