Member of the LI

Full Membership of the Landscape Institute formally recognises a member's technical and professional competence as a landscape architect, and is open to those who have sucessfully completed the Pathway to Chartership.

By law, a Member of the Landscape Institute or MLI may describe themselves as a Chartered Landscape Architect and may use the designation MLI to indicate their standing within the profession. Members of the Landscape Institute are part of the Corporate membership of the LI, and may participate in the decisions about how the Institute is run, including voting in and standing for, election to Council, in accordance with procedures defined by LI's Charter, regulations and By Laws.

  • Landscape and Vista Your membership includes your subscription to Landscape and Vista, awarding winning news and views, features and profiles plus job vacancies, events and a lively letters page - sent to you fortnightly.

  • The LI library. Open daily, the LI library holds an unrivalled collection of over 5,000 landscape related books, journals and resources. As a Member you can borrow books and use the library's reference facilities free of charge. The collection is now searchable online and the library also operates a friendly enquiries service.   • Publications, services and advice: As a Member you will have access to the password protected Members section of the LI website, giving you access to a wide range of services, including technical and practical advice, free LI publications, and a host of information to help you in your professional life and career.
  • Branch membership: As a Member you will get automatic membership of one of the LI's eleven branches, giving you access to professional and social networks, local events and seminars.
  • Recruitment services: Whether you are looking for a permanent job or opportunities to broaden your experience, the LI provides free services to Members to help them on their way, including a job section updated daily, and our jobs bulletin Vista express, emailed to you directly on request.
  • Events: access to events run by the LI and its partners on the issues that matter most to you, including workships, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and open days.
  • Legal and insurance services: Free initial consultation and preferential rates through Mc Parland Finn (insurance services)and Clarke Willmott.
  • At Clarke Willmott, Barrie Hobbs offers legal advice, a free half hour consultation to LI members on any legal matter relating to their business, including contract appointment issues, partnership, employment, property and copyright.
