Chartered Membership of the LI is internationally recognised as a badge of excellence.

- Student Membership
- for those who are studying in higher education
- Associate Membership
- for those who have completed their initial professional education, and are now working towards chartered status
- Member of the LI (MLI)
- recognises members' technical and professional competence and confers Chartered status.
- Fellowship
- is awarded to senior members of LI, recognising their talent, expertise and particular contribution to the profession.
- Retired Membership
- is available to former Members and Fellows who are no longer actively working in the profession.
- Subscriber membership
- is open to those with an interest in landscape architecture who would like to keep in touch with current developments.
